- If anesthesia given effect of local anesthesia will remain at the site of extraction for 2-3 hours till that do not chew from that site and avoid speaking to prevent cheek/lip/tongue bite.
- Keep the cotton with pressure at the extraction site for 5-10 minutes.
- Do not gargle or spit for 24 hours after tooth removal. Do not take any liquid beverages with use of straw, and have a cold, soft, liquid diet for next 24 hours.
- Take medicines prescribed by the doctor before the effect of anesthesia wears off & complete the course of medicines prescribed by the doctor.
- After 24 hours do Luke -warm salt water/ mouth wash gargling as explained by the doctor twice a day to maintain the mouth clean.
- It is advisable to do mouth opening exercise after 24 hours of tooth extraction to avoid jaw locking. 7. Do not touch the extraction site with tongue or finger because in certain cases there is a bone at the site of a tooth removal so do not think it is a part of tooth which is removed.
- One should complete remaining dental treatment advised by your dentist without failure to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
- Annual dental check-up is must and if treatment is needed, it should be completed as per the doctor’s advice because prevention is better than cure.
