Gandhinagar is the capital of the state of Gujarat in India. Gandhinagar is located approximately 23 km north of Ahmedabad, on the west central point of the Industrial corridor between Delhi, the political capital of India and Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
Prior to the formation of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation on March 16, 2010, following the 2009 judgment of the Gujarat High Court, the city was the only notified area capital of any state in the country, where the city was not governed by any elected body. The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) is a state electricity regulation board which has its plant in Gandhinagar. There is a Gujarat Frontier Border Security Force (BSF) Headquarter and South Western Air Command-SWAC (Airforce) Headquarter in Chiloda, Gandhinagar.
Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat, in the state capital Gandhinagar. Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from single-member constituencies (seats). Sachivalay is located at Sector 17, Gandhinagar. Currently Shri Vijaybhai Rupani is Chief Minister of Gujarat. Shri Narendrabhai Modi, Prime Minister of India is former Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Gandhinagar, Gujarat’s new capital city, lies on the west bank of the Sabarmati River, about 545 km (338 miles) north of Mumbai, the financial capital of India and 901 km (560 miles) southwest of Delhi, the political capital. There is a provision of parks, extensive planting and a recreational area along the river giving the city a green garden-city atmosphere.
1. Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park:-
Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park is a precious treasure spread over an area of about 400 hectares on either bank of Sabarmati river in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. It is considered to be the second largest hatchery of dinosaur eggs in the world. Regarded as India’s Jurrasic Park, it is run by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research Foundation (GEER), and is the only dinosaur museum in the country. The park consists of a zoo, massive skeletons of sea mammals like the blue whale, as well as a vast botanical garden, amphitheater, interpretation center and camping facilities. It also has a Wilderness Park which is home to innumerable species of birds, reptiles, hundreds of nilgais, langurs and peafowls in its vast forest.
2. Adalaj StepWell:-
Adalaj step-well is a popular tourist attraction of the city and is situated 18 km. south of Gandhinagar. The well was built in 1499 A.D. by Queen Rudabai. The step well or Vav, as it is called in Gujarati, is intricately carved and is several stories in depth. The designs on its walls and pillars include leaves, flowers, birds, fish and other breathtaking ornamental designs. In the past, these step wells were frequented by travellers and caravans as stopovers along trade routes.
3. Akshardham Temple:-
Akshardham Gandhinagar is one of the largest temples in the Indian state of Gujarat. The temple complex combines devotions, art, architecture, education, exhibitions and research at one place. It was inaugurated on November 2, 1992, during the centenary celebrations of Yogiji Maharaj. The complex is very popular among tourists visiting Gujarat.
4. Mahatma Mandir:-
Mahatma mandir is a convention and exhibition center located at sector 13C, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It is inspired from life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. It is one of the biggest convention center of India spread over 34 acres. It was developed by Government of Gujarat. Business summits like Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 were organised here.
5. Trimandir Adalaj:-
Within the temple, the idols of Gods of Jainism, Shaivism, and Vaishnavism (along with Gods and Goddesses from other religions) share equal reverence on the same platform.
6. GIFT City: –
Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is a business district in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It is India’s first operational greenfield smart city and international financial services center, which the Government of Gujarat promoted as a greenfield project, The city is located on the banks of the Sabarmati River and is around 12 km (7.5 mi) from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
